Location
We will sleep at several locations during this trip.
Our first and last home is “Riad Marrakech” – to be confirmed which Riad.
Our second home away from home will be our tents. We will make it as comfortable as we can with sanitary tents and matrices but of course, it’s still tents.
The refuge we will stay at is a shelter.
It’s a shelter, what can we say? 🙂 Bunkbeds on the one hand side, awesome views and friendly staff on the other side. Oddly as it may sound now, we are quite convinced that you will like it here!
Luxury level: Zero. Adventure Level: 10+!
In our guesthouse, the rooms are not luxurious but they offer everything you need during a hiking and yoga holiday.
M’goun Experience: Good to know
Do I need to be (super) fit?
The ascent of Jbel M’Goun (4068m), North Africa’s second highest mountain, is achievable without any climbing skills. Most people who are reasonably fit and determined can achieve this goal. Slowly, step by step.
If you have not walked at heights of 4000m before, do not be surprised about the slow pace, which is certainly the best way to get to the top no matter how fit you are.
It’s not a race and we will keep a very close eye on you that things are safe for everyone involved.
How about comfort and luxury during the trek?
During our Trekking, we will sleep at a guesthouse, tents and a Refuge. This is the only possibility and it’s not luxurious, … at all. Think of it as a communal bunkhouse sleeping platform.
In all three places, service level is high and the staff is super nice.
What should I bring?
Not too much! Luggage is transported on mules but this doesn’t mean you should bring 5 suitcases…
Before departure, we will send you more information of course about all practicalities.
Most important things:
- Walking boots or tracking shoes (trainers are not ok, they don’t protect your ankles and might not have enough grip)
- Sleeping bag
- Day rucksack /backpack
- Rain clothes
- Water bottle – ideally camel bag
Morocco in June, will it be too hot?
Morocco in June could be warm to very hot. However, during our Walking Experience, we will be at an altitude of 2000 meter and higher, so temperatures should be ideal to climb. Not as warm as in the rest of the country.
We can only say that the past three years, June was absolutely lush! Our day in Marrakech could be warm, or even hot but we will adjust the program in order for it to be nice and doable.
Can I do the Hiking and Trekking and leave the Yoga lessons out?
Yes, you can although this is what makes this particular retreat special. There are many hiking holidays out there so it might be more interesting to contact those.
If your partner is interested in joining and not into yoga, he or she can come of course. Rachel’s personal condition to join is that he or she follows at least 1 yoga class during our time together 🙂
Great Food!
This wouldn’t be a Revealing Vajra Experience if there’s wasn’t extra attention for food!
We will bring our own chefs and they will prepare awesome lunches and dinners. With this kind of food, we will simply fly up that mountain! Don’t expect Michelin stars now, we are in the middle of the mountains. What you can expect is simple and really good food. We will also have lunches with breathtaking views.
You will get to taste all the typical Moroccan dishes and it will never taste the same. You will love it, even if you have no idea what Moroccan cuisine means right now.
This retreat is now over for this year..
Please contact Rachel at rb@revealingvajra.com to find out about dates next year or other Revaling Vajra retreats.

One of the best retreats I ever attended. Rachel has a vast knowledge of yoga and all its aspects and made sure that we all got a taste of it. The week was very complete in the amount of activities, yoga and excursion time. I highly recommend Rachel's retreats to anyone wanting a wonderful week, away from the intensity of every day life. To learn new skills, to relax in a beautiful setting with amazing food. Thank you!
Lauretta Zucchetti, Italy - March 2018, Marrakech
What a great retreat in an amazing location! I had such a good time and I wish there was one more week to come! The yoga classes are not too intense, but really creative and very interesting. After a week of practise, I can feel the benefits of daily yoga and meditation. It helped me to create some space and look at my thoughts and emotions from a distance. There is still a lot to sort out, but I feel that I am coming back stronger and with an open mind. Thank you for that!
